Janet Swiss
Fabric Artist

"Color and movement fascinate me.  I love abstract imagery because of the excitement, emotion and mystery created by the juxtaposition of color and line. This is what motivates me to create my art. I "paint" with fabrics because of the wonderful tactile quality they create in my work. I strive for each endeavor to suggest emotion or simple pleasure in the combination of color, movement and texture."

Janet Swiss graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She began making quilts in 1999 starting out with traditional designs using untraditional colors.  She quickly moved into contemporary fiber art and today "paints" with fabric to create original abstract pieces.  She moved into three-dimensional art and began making art purses in 2004. Janet has studied with many internationally acclaimed artists including Libby Lehman, Hollis Chatelain, Katie Pasquini and Carol Taylor.
